One of my fondest colleagues has breast cancer (in palliative care). I learned so much from him about optics/microscopy over the years. We still text about microscopy. I have not seen him in a long time. Today he said"I miss you. Let`s meet next week." That will be a tough one.🥺

Today I met Jeroen, who was a microscope technician before he retired. He taught me everything about optics during my PhD. Jeroen has breast cancer. He told me his diagnostics & treatment story to create awareness:"I hope this was not the last time I see you & I stay optimistic."

I am invited to visit the breast cancer clinic & learn everything about diagnostics & treatment from my fantastic colleagues at the hospital. Still so grateful for the opportunities & the first 2 months as assistant professor at the medical faculty flew by. 💕🩺 #BreastCancer

Such great news during my holidays. I am appointed to a senior teaching role in imaging technology at UM. I will follow into the foot steps of a physics prof. So glad he recommended me as microscopy expert & that I will be able to shape microscopy education at my university. 🔬🥰
