A teacher recently told me about visiting a school where the adults loved their job. She said the school had a great “feel.” This is the sort of thing that students pick up on every day. The attitude of the adults has a huge impact on whether kids enjoy or endure school.

Dayton Avenue Elementary School Principal Shelita Watkis has received her PhD in Literacy Studies from Hofstra University after the successful defense of her dissertation. Congratulations Dr. Watkis!

I am convinced that one of the most important things a staff member can do to contribute to a strong culture is to be excited about their job. This does not require skill, experience, or innovation. But it does require heart.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sir Ken Robinson died peacefully yesterday, 21st August 2020, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. We will be following up with a further update as we begin to follow Sir Ken’s wishes and honour his legacy.
