Labour are backtracking on a plan to help save birds: by blocking a new rule that would make developers put a £35 nest brick in every new home. They think it'll help win them votes - we need to show it would do the opposite. Sign the petition 38d.gs/zcpv

Ecologists are clear: the Planning Bill torches environmental safeguards. My proposals would stop developers trashing nature. The failed developer-led model won't deliver affordable homes. We need a progressive alternative: a public-led plan to deliver homes & protect nature.

Looking forward to helping run this event next week! Plenty of Dungeness goodies on the wing at the moment with fresh White Spot, Sussex Emerald, Ethmia bipuntella and the first Pale Grass Eggar last night. Decent numbers of the common Hawkmoths and Garden Tigers out now too!

The Med is experiencing a 1-in-216-billion-year sea temperature anomaly. To grasp how rare that is: ▸ Earth is only 4.5 billion years old. For this event to occur naturally, earth would need to exist for 48x longer ▸ This is 15x rarer than the age of the universe ▸ Equally

Sorry for the lack of interaction on here lately, I have been without a laptop for weeks. Hopefully we will have a bit more time and ability to do more with #PWC2025 soon. Hopefully everyone is still keen for the competition, and we look forward to a busy autumn.

Time this ridiculous “tradition” was forgotten. Burning Witches was a tradition in Scotland wasn’t it, anyone want that kept going ? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

A very enjoyable July here at Dungeness with plenty of autumn migration in action. Already masses of Sand Martins and Warblers on their way out, while numbers of gulls, waders, terns etc are building/moving thru. Lots of rings to be read with thousands of Med Gulls #PWC2025

A thoroughly enjoyable #migfest2025 spent with Jacob Spinks at Spurn Bird Observatory. Thousands of Meadow Pipits, skeins of Pink-footed Geese, hurindines and swifts on the move, Osprey, Red-necked Phalarope and plenty of familar faces. Migration at its finest!
