My third graders enjoyed discussing Let The Children March by @MonicaClarkRob and Frank Morrison A great nonfiction story to share for #BlackHistoryMonth and to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.


I shared the narrative nonfiction book The Case for Loving by Sean Qualls and Selina Alko for Valentine’s Day and #BlackHistoryMonth with my 5th graders.



Shark Lady by @Jess_Keating and Marta Álvarez has been a great read aloud picture book biography for 4th and 5th grade for Women’s History Month

Read The Rise (and Falls) of Jackie Chan by Kristen Giang Alina_Chau to 3rd grade for #AAPIHeritageMonth and showed clips from his movies


Read Maya Lin biography by Jeanne Walker Harvey 📚 @DowPhumiruk for #AAPIHeritageMonth. The next week I had my students create memorials with various materials.



This week 5th grade will enjoy the award winning short film and book, Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by William Joyce to practice making inferences, predictions and connections


Shared the fabulous award winning book, We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom 🪶🦬 and Michaela Goade with my third graders. We analyzed the illustrations, talked about the black snake metaphor and then went outside to observe nature


My third graders loved choral reading That is Not a Good Idea and The Thank You Book by Mo Willems The Pigeon to practice fluency


My fourth graders loved writing poems that rhyme after reading Nanette’s Baguette as a mentor text by Mo Willems The Pigeon
