Sometimes when patients come to our screenings, our cardiologists recommend they get an echocardiogram for our on-site echo tech. Echocardiograms are ultrasounds of the heart.

In honor of heart health month, here are some healthy and delicious meals that are lower in saturated fat and sodium!

Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy, or "broken heart syndrome," is caused by a sudden rush of stress hormones or emotional shock. The condition is different than a heart attack and requires medical attention.

As heart health month comes to a close, we highlight the various ways a heart can change. Heart development and abilities change throughout an individual's life and can also be impacted by various social and environmental factors.

SHF is thrilled to have had the opportunity to host a heart screening at Agoura High last Saturday. We were able to screen 177 individuals and found 2 students who were recommended to follow up with a cardiologist for further evaluation of a potentially dangerous finding.

On Saturday we had the pleasure of hosting our second heart screening event in conjunction with UCLA Horace Mann Community School. Our team efforts are not only fostering a strong connection between our UCLA undergraduates and the Horace Mann community, but are also saving lives

This morning, our UCLA Undergraduate Volunteers were able to give a “Heart Talk” at Wilson High School in Long Beach in preparation for our upcoming screening at Wilson on Saturday, May 13th. For more info, please visit our website at savingheartsfoundation.com/get-screened/

The Saving Hearts Foundation had another successful screening event last Saturday, May 6th, at Palmdale High School. We were able to screen 84 individuals and found 2 students who had abnormal EKGs but echocardiograms confirmed they did not need a follow up.

The Saving Hearts Foundation is passionate about saving lives from Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and one of the main ways to do so is to engage individuals in knowing how to respond when tragedy strikes. Join us in spreading awareness about the importance of CPR and AED usage.
