Cooler than normal temperatures are here, but we do have moderate to heavy smoke present. This is dropping our air quality to the "unhealthy for all" category and allowing for lower visibilities this morning. Hazy skies will continue the next few days.

How are we feeling about this?? We lose roughly 80 minutes of daylight in Madison during the month of August. Our sunrise/sunset today; 5:49am and 8:17pm. Our sunrise/sunset August 31st; 6:21am and 7:33pm. Summer is slipping away, the dog days of summer are settling in.😢💔

The Air Quality Alert once got extended as expected as smoke continues to be an issue across the state. This will allow for unhealthy air quality for some & poor visibility. Limit time outside today. Despite the poor air quality, dry conditions & pleasant temps are expected.

Most of us still fall under the "unhealthy for some/orange" air quality today. But as I was saying last week, there is improvements on the day. Air quality Wednesday into the weekend will be in the "moderate/yellow" category while still not good, much better than last week.

We're still dealing with areas of smoke, heavier east of Madison, but we are waking up to an improvement from the last several days. Moderate air quality is expected through the weekend. There are a few storm chances, tomorrow, but our better chance, Sunday.

Hope everyone has a fantastic evening! Enjoy the dry weather while we have it. Dew points are only going to be in the lower 60s with temps falling into the upper 50s/lower 60s tonight with clear skies. What are you going to do with your night?

We only have a few more weeks until meteorological fall starts... that's right, September 1st (also happens to be Labor Day) is right around the corner. Are you ready for fall, or want summer to stick around like me?
