Last night I was at a candidates forum in Prince William Count. VA7 is competitive and might play a role in control of congress. The policy positions were pretty standard when it comes to R’s and D’s. A few things stood out: (📸Shaban Athuman )

The Democrat Eugene Vindman kept bringing the conversation back to Project 2025 (he brought his own binder with it printed out) and his own support for reproductive rights. (📸Shaban Athuman )

Derrick Anderson, the R, said he wouldn’t vote for a national abortion ban but wouldn’t say if he supported the right to choose. He seemed to talk the economy more than Vindman. He got the most cheers when he talked immigration-some even heckled Vindman.(📸Shaban Athuman )

Dem State Sen. Suhas Subramanyam was there too - his opponent for the 10th district (Mike Clancy) didn’t show. He kept plugging things he passed in the GA. Afterwards he said he wants a national data center strategy - which is a big issue in Northern Virginia. (📸Shaban Athuman )

There's no breakout candidate so far for Richmond Mayor. And none of the candidates got a boost from Tim Kaine or Jennifer McClellan: They didn't say who they supported when they voted this morning. (📸 and reporting by Shaban Athuman) VPM
