End of Driving Week 2. Lots of hard work to get rid of bad habits & learn new techniques. Successful assessment today means these students have earned the right to progress to emergency response training next week #systemofcarcontrol #principlesofcornering #manoeuvring

A big ‘well done’ to this group from E-TECH 03/19 who have passed their clinical OSCEs this week and now move onto 4 weeks of driver training.

The E-TECH 03/19 students who have been driving for the last 4 weeks deserve a big ‘well done’ too after passing their emergency response assessments this week. Pictures are those who were based in Grangemouth.

A good time was had by all at the quiz night arranged by members of our Scottish volunteer group AND they raised a phenomenal £400 🥳👏🏻🤩 Every penny raised helps TASC The Ambulance Staff Charity to support more #TeamGreen colleagues. Well done & huge #Thanks to all involved 💚 .

Yesterday saw the retirement of Iain Taylor after 35 years service with SAS. Involved in all aspects of training he is particularly known as a Legend for his driving skills and knowledge, all of which will be greatly missed. Wishing you a happy, healthy retirement, Mr T!

Apologies for the Twitter silence folks, have had to have a few months off, but back on it now! This week we’ve welcomed our latest VQ4 cohort to the start of their course. It’s all rather different to normal, with the regional cohorts split in half 1/2

2/2 ... with one half having theory delivered via Zoom whilst the other half are doing practical training in the Centres. This helps us maintain distancing and reduce the chances of Covid-related complications.

Today’s practical session was focussed primarily on the Personal Protective Equipment at our disposal to protect patients and staff from infection, including correct donning and doffing of the full PPE which has been required particularly in recent times.

That’s a wrap on week one for our new cohort of VQ4 technician students. They have been busy learning techniques and how to use various pieces of equipment for safe patient handling over the last couple of days.

Time flies when you’re having fun, here concludes week 2! Students have been learning about the range of equipment we have to assist bariatric patients and how to take basic observations. Meanwhile driving students have been out on their long drives, pictured here at The Lecht.

All change next week as the driving students return to complete their clinical training and the clinical students hit the road! Well done to all including these folk who have been driving from Grangemouth. The hard work and the tears of frustration WERE worth it in the end!

ETECH 03/20 have all passed their clinical element (a handful with a week’s driving still to go) and are heading into the Divisional world. Well done guys and gals! Next up: welcoming qualified staff from elsewhere in the UK/world to SAS, and then beginning new ACA/VQ courses.
