S. Arshia Arshad, MD, MS Conversion to open often results in an open subtotal. I’m old enough that we did a decent number of open choles in training, but I rarely convert now, because of the popularity of the subtotal. Converting purely to prevent leaving a small remnant is where you get in trouble.

Elliot Servais, MD, FACS JAMA Surgery This is pretty funny from a urology perspective. It's like general and cardiothoracic surgery are going through the same debates we went through 20 years ago. Déjà vu all over again. Just carry on.

More than 100 years ago, William Osler (the 'Father of Medicine') warned us about the danger of having a busy and successful practice. Though the term 'burnout' was unknown at the time, essentially this is what he was talking about. A short 🧵 (1/ )
