It's very difficult to think of a better Afghanistan, a brighter future for women under Taliban rule. And I don’t want to think about that. I want to believe and hold my strength together, that this madness cannot last. swissinfo.ch , Imogen Foulkes swissinfo.ch/eng/internatio…

After being polio-free for more than 25 years, Palestine has confirmed a polio case in a 10-month-old baby in Gaza. Israeli officials should urgently end the blockade of Gaza and ensure full humanitarian access to prevent a polio outbreak. bit.ly/4fTCsrI

2/We analysed 20 videos and a photo of 10 separate incidents uploaded to social media platforms between August 24, 2023, and July 11, 2024. In one incident the RSF execute at least 21 men in W.Kordofan, in another SAF execute three detainees, possibly children, in Omdurman.

3/While some of the victims appear to be in military uniform, other victims were in civilian clothes. Fighter or not, summary execution, torture, and mutilation are #WarCrimes

4/These videos are most likely just the tip of the iceberg of a wider context of such grave violations. Without robust monitoring of parties’ alleged commitments, ongoing international investigations, and consequences for these actions, the crimes will persist.

1/Following 2019 revolution, Hemedti desperately portrayed himself as the saviour and protector of Darfur. What happened in the next years and months was his forces and allied militias attacking displaced communities incl. in West Darfur. At the time, the world went silent.

The unfathomable civilian death toll in Israel-Palestine-tens of thousands of Palestinians and hundreds of Israelis-is because fighters on all sides have persistently flouted their duties to protect civilians. Like shooting to death 6 Israeli hostages who had a right to go home.

#UK's partial suspension of arms sales to #Israel - because they might be used in #Gaza in "serious violations of international humanitarian law" - is a major diplomatic decision. But more should be done - including by EU states - to prevent complicity & ensure accountability.
