Waking up from the jet-lag sleep in delhi somehow always makes me feel like the whole canada-swiss-uk thing was just a dream and it is time to leave for college

I have been hopping countries for almost a year now and I have never been on a flight as bad as EGYPTAIR. Tapes everywhere, seats torn, no ports in a 6+ hour flight… Also, what’s wrong with Cairo airport, why is the security so understaffed and rude🥲 almost lost my 🎞️ camera

Was stopped from entering the Swiss visa centre because I had a Swiss knife with me (which is always tied to my keys), had a good laugh about the situation with the security personnel😭

Remind me to never take a bus in London, why is it always faster to walk than ride a bus (I still somehow end up on the bus every time)

Handed off my Swiss residence permit yesterday, the card that allowed me to roam around 9 countries in 10 months. Was so hard letting it go, asked the CERN receptionist to take care of it 😭

I (aldi + lidl enthusiast) just discovered an enormous sainsburys near my house, and it is a whole new world. So many sweet treats, meal deals, snacks, dairy products, ..., AND they price match their fresh produce with aldi (adult equivalent of finding a new toy store)

Disappointed to see that nasa/Transform-to-Open-Science is down. Before it vanished, PRs removing "inclusiveness" and deleting the website were merged without a review. Reminder to not give a single user infinite power on an open-source repository. git.tu-berlin.de/colombj/transf…

I never applied to Columbia University for any program, how do they even have my email address, why is my data in their database😭 Ironically, their "Enterprise Risk Management" program had a management problem?

Reminds me of the course I tutored at UCL; we were at a point where a good chunk of students suggested that office hours are not useful and should be scrapped Catch: only 4-5% students actually used to visit us during office hours

I have been working on vector on and off for more than 2 years now, and we finally published a JOSS paper on the library! Vector: JIT-compilable mathematical manipulations of ragged Lorentz vectors - joss.theoj.org/papers/10.2110… (JOSS papers are so short, love it)

Spoiler: it did not get better, I messed up and started making commits on weekend again😭 I have a theory. I think I'm always running whenever I'm in London (or Delhi) and always relaxed whenever I'm in a Swiss city (no GH on weekends). I shall test this theory very soon.

I have started giving directions to people in London - reminds me of my last days in Canada and Switzerland, when I used to wonder what would happen to all the bus routes and directions that I have memorised. I don't remember any routes now. I will soon forget London too.

Moving from London to any other European (even the “international” ones) city feels quite weird. In London you don’t feel like an outsider, no matter who you are, and I really liked that. I will never get people who don’t like diversity.
