Congrats to Fangfang Yao + Jida Wang (and others) on this fantastic new study on the cover of Science!! Really striking findings about the prevalence of water loss in large lakes. I was honored to write a Perspective piece for Science about this work: science.org/doi/10.1126/scโ€ฆ

The UO business school has been putting up these (lovely) signs all over campus, including right outside our Geography building. Thinking of putting one next to it stating: "Academia. The fastest (or slowest?) way to ensure you're underpaid and your skills are undervalued" ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ

This summer's going to look a little different for me... I'm extremely happy to be embarking on this most challenging+rewarding new adventure! Feeling exhausted but so grateful for the support I've received from friends+colleagues. If I'm slow to respond this summer, this is why!

I am on maternity leave with a 12-day-old newborn, and yet I am currently forced to work thanks to masters theses that need approval, equipment/funding issues for my students heading to the field this week, and other impt grant management things. Is ML as an AP even possible?! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I just discovered I set up my email auto reply incorrectly and it was sending an old response saying Iโ€™m in Alaska conducting fieldwork! So if you got that reply, please know I am most definitely NOT doing fieldwork with my newborn baby ๐Ÿ˜‚ (in fact I barely left the couch today)
