My thoughts exactly. I hope this is evidence of growth and change rather than a double-standard, but I’m not optimistic about that. The 2022 figure skating team medalists deserved so much better.

I woke up from a stress dream early this morning. It was the first day of class. As I was passing out the syllabus, I saw that I was teaching ochem. I know nothing about ochem. I am also, for the first time in years, not starting a new semester. Brains are so weird.

Plot twist: the water tower also has an open top and rain is falling at a given rate. Also, the water tower contains salt water for some reason and it is imperative we understand the changing salinity….

My small-town Ohio public high school classmates are still one of the most incredible and inspiring group of colleagues I’ve ever had.
