Screech of tyres. The acrid smell of burnt rubber. Brakes slammed on and Mouse mobile at an angle across the country road. Mouse almost missed this in her haste for Roquefort. This is worth investigating. Wick in #Somerset for #StandingCrossSunday #TheWickCross (1 of 3)

#CatsOfX Chufford looking super cute outside even though it was so hot today! Hot weather +broken fingers = unkempt lawn for now. 😆Garage painting by neighbor.

This St Anne Trinity was a bit too golden for me! Jesus' cape and expression made me laugh a little. This one includes a reliquary. Also from the Musée de Cluny, made by Hans Greiff, 1472, Ingolstadt.

Back to Raunds. The earliest example of a 24 hour clock that I have seen. Painted around 1420 this clock face shows 24 dots that mark the hours flanked by angels, the kneeling donors and a Latin inscription asking us to pray for them.

Let me introduce you to the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassai, one of the most interesting temples in the Greek world and one that I highly recommend visiting. It is the first temple to be built with a specific design feature that became synonymous with the ancient world! 🧵1/

Such richness! A story in Medieval polychrome tiles a la Uccello! (See next tweet) A hunt in the forest, we can clearly see an archer, hounds and deer in vigorous motion. Wonderful! Janet Gough  Pericles' Tripod #TilesOnTuesday #CanterburyCathedral

Update -- pins are now out of my finger and I only need to deal with finger taping for 3 more weeks. I am a very happy camper, even though it will soon mean a return to dish washing, lawn mowing, etc. 😊 Cats are happy about it too, I think ... Ufford's enthusiastic response...

I posted this as a reply to The Last Homely House as he was looking for single-page calendars & I thought others might be interested and interested in his fascinating posts.

The Tokugawa shogunate held a monopoly on the production of printed calendars, issuing licenses to a few publishers under strict censorship. Calendars stipulated farming schedules, festivals, religious ceremonies, etc. So people circumvented it, making it into a fun puzzle.
