Postharvest Pathology Committee meetup at #PlantHealth2024! Even our The American Phytopathological Society CAL made it 🌱 We are grateful to NC State Veggie Pathology for leading this past year and excited to welcome Christian Aguilar and Tropical Plant Clinic & Research Lab as our new leaders! 🍎 🥭 🥑

This is Geotrichum sour rot, an important postharvest disease of #sweetpotato that we don’t know much about, mostly because we didn’t have a reliable inoculation method until today. Thanks to Kelly J. Avila a new and needed research area for the lab is open 🍠 🤩 N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative APS Postharvest Pathology Committee

Sarah Cochran-Murray may have come up with a semi selective media for Colletotrichum orbiculare of cucurbits. Her isolates are looking beautiful! 🤩 #Anthracnose Cucurbit Coordinated Agricultural Project N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative NCSU Entomology & Plant Pathology

Colletotrichum scovillei causing anthracnose has been reported in the US. It’s more aggressive and harder to manage than other species. Pepper growers, stay alert! Contact us if you spot it 🫑🌶️N.C.
