This is Geotrichum sour rot, an important postharvest disease of #sweetpotato that we don’t know much about, mostly because we didn’t have a reliable inoculation method until today. Thanks to Kelly J. Avila a new and needed research area for the lab is open 🍠 🤩 N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative APS Postharvest Pathology Committee

Colletotrichum scovillei causing anthracnose has been reported in the US. It’s more aggressive and harder to manage than other species. Pepper growers, stay alert! Contact us if you spot it 🫑🌶️N.C. Extremely grateful (and excited to announce) that I won the 2025 NC Tomato Grower’s Association Scholarship. Support from scholarships like this that allow me to continue my PhD and keep me motivated to give back to my local community 🍅🌱 NC State Veggie Pathology
