As our encampments are being raided by NYPD SRG with brutal force, all we can think about at this time is our brothers and sisters facing imminent invasions in Rafah- ALL OUT TO CCNY AND ALL EYES ON PALESTINE‼️

I am outraged by the level of police presence called upon nonviolent student protestors on Columbia and CCNY’s campuses. As an educator who has first hand experience with the over-policing of our schools, this is personal to me.

Universities, like Columbia, must ask themselves, “under what conditions would they permit the police to kill one of its students or one of its faculty members.

Is Columbia willing to have police kill one of its students today? That is the gamble they’re taking.

This is performance theater by Ivy and Ivy wannabes + #copcity performing for M-ga.

None of this is about protecting Jewish people or peace.

Students are humans first. But these universities don’t care.

We need a way forward without them.

Why would Columbia and NYPD plan to raid the student sit-in at #ColumbiaUniversity at night, when it is dark and the risk of injury to undergrads and police would seem to be much higher??

Watching this phalanx of NYPD officers—helmets on head, billy clubs in hand, pistols in holsters. What a horrific moment!! These are students, young people.

This will go down as one of the most dangerous times to be a college student in our lifetime. The traumatic ramifications of what we’re witnessing universities do to their own will be difficult to quantify.

Friends, please amplify and pay attention to the police raid and violence happening right now at CCNY alongside Columbia. Shame on Félix V. Matos Rodríguez for sanctioning the NYPD to hurt our @cuny students.

I rather not be interrogated about my beliefs by masked individuals at checkpoints when walking around campus.

Please, everyone, remember this: the presence of police on Columbia's campus comes because of the request of the administration, in defiance of faculty governance. This is the authoritarian university in action.
