Its done! After 27 years on the list and a revolution, Sudan is off the terrorism list and the Bashir era is over! Congratulations to Sudan’s transitional government for making the US work and getting the best possible deal for the country.

Congratulations to Donald J. Trump for finally doing the right thing and acknowledging the new #Sudan.

Congrats to the US victims of terrorism who will hopefully receive some long-deserved justice and peace. And most of all, congrats to the Sudanese people who have earned the long-fought for recognition that they are better than their past leaders’ actions. The Bashir-era is over!

Thank you so much, President Trump! We very much look forward to your official notification to Congress rescinding the designation of Sudan as a state-sponsor of terrorism, which has cost Sudan too much.

This Tweet and that notification are the strongest support to Sudan’s transition to democracy and to the Sudanese people.

As we’re about to get rid of the heaviest legacy of Sudan’s previous, defunct regime, I should reiterate that we are peace-loving people and have never supported terrorism.
