.Drew University story on our edited book (with Deana Heath) - on Policing and Violence in India. The story also gave me a chance to share how our wonderful students have always inspired us in our teaching and research. drew.edu/2025/08/18/dre…
In this piece for Religion News Service, I contextualize Zohran Kwame Mamdani’s candidacy by looking at the experiences of Muslims in the post-9/11 period and how NYC in that period became a critical part of detention and surveillance of Muslims!
Sounds like Zohran Kwame Mamdani !!
On the anniversary of 9/11, it is important to think about its backlash and the impact. I wrote this piece recently in the context of Zohran Kwame Mamdani's candidacy, recalling the history of Muslim, Arab, & South Asian racialization in the post-9/11 period! religionnews.com/2025/08/20/for…
I am looking forward to be a part of this important conversation on Zohran Kwame Mamdani and the upcoming mayoral election!
How despicable: Andrew Cuomo used all kinds of sectarian divides against Zohran Kwame Mamdani . Pitting Sunnis against Shias, Hindus against Muslims, Jews against Muslims. What a desperate political playbook he has!!
.Zohran Kwame Mamdani spoke today passionately about vicious attacks on his Muslim faith & what the community endured in NYC since the 9/11 attacks. A few weeks back, I wrote how the context of 9/11 has been so important to understand his historic candidacy! religionnews.com/2025/08/20/for…
Happy to have written this a few weeks back about mayor elect Zohran Kwame Mamdani !
