Our "Oreo" cows are back on the west dyke on their summer holidays from our sons ranch. They have been busy producing Galloway Seed Starter & plant food. $5 for a 2k bag at our farm gate. We still have a few Alpha, Golden Pacific & Mikado tomato plants for sale.

Can Vancouver's creative community do better design than letter sign every city has installed over the past two decades? Council Report to approve $1M sign taking away even more of City's priceless views, annual salary of $50,000 plus to maintain. sandyjamesplanner.wordpress.com/2025/05/20/van…

Sandy James Planner @sandyjamesplanner.bluesky Of course it would help if we had a proper art gallery, for a city that is so globally important in visual arts (something non-art Vancouverites still don't grasp). After our scenery & our *older* urban planning triumphs, art is arguably the thing Van is most distinguished for.

People like the East Van cross because artist Ken Lum was in conversation with place. What does this sign say? That Vancouver is a no-place. A sterile, milenial grey canvass for your hollywood movie or convention. We deserve better.

Vancouver ABC Council majority voted for outdated VANCOUVER sign in Vancouver's view on waterfront, cost est. to $1M, with $50,000 annual maintenance paid by taxpayers. Short on details, how is "legacy" project when taxpayers pay? Astounding. Civic election October 2026, folks.

When Vancouver Council approved a Vancouver sign that will cost up to $1 million dollars, and actually had a councillor say this would be as important as the building of the 1930 City Hall. I did have a moment of wondering what reality they were living in. FIFA bros unite!

Author @ donnaseto speaks eloquently from her new book about a formative memory of Chinatown of having a red balloon while shopping with her mom. Her writing is personable and close. Well worth buying this book for the writing, bonus is her wonderful artistic images. Andy Yan | @ayan604.bsky.social

Sandy James Planner @sandyjamesplanner.bluesky Ravi Kahlon I agree. The best way to house lower income people is to build housing specifically designed and priced for low income people. Not the oftentimes tiny, awful units being proposed along Broadway and in other Inclusionary Zoning projects.
