Can Vancouver's creative community do better design than letter sign every city has installed over the past two decades? Council Report to approve $1M sign taking away even more of City's priceless views, annual salary of $50,000 plus to maintain. sandyjamesplanner.wordpress.com/2025/05/20/van…

Sandy James Planner @sandyjamesplanner.bluesky Of course it would help if we had a proper art gallery, for a city that is so globally important in visual arts (something non-art Vancouverites still don't grasp). After our scenery & our *older* urban planning triumphs, art is arguably the thing Van is most distinguished for.

Sandy James Planner @sandyjamesplanner.bluesky You walk into the MOMA in NYC and immediately see a Jeff Wall artwork depicting Vancouver. Don't let people walk into Vancouver and see... this.

Just about to start the conversation with Donna Seto and Andy Yan on Donna’s new book Chinatown Vancouver! She’s the author and the artist! Vancouver Public Library

Here we are full audience on sunny Saturday to listen to Donna Seto at lVancouver Public Library about Chinatown History. Donna has filled part of gap of vanishing identity. history & bias. She’s filling in written, oral & pictorial gaps. Piecing together. Andy Yan | @ayan604.bsky.social

Author @ donnaseto speaks eloquently from her new book about a formative memory of Chinatown of having a red balloon while shopping with her mom. Her writing is personable and close. Well worth buying this book for the writing, bonus is her wonderful artistic images. Andy Yan | @ayan604.bsky.social

Sandy James Planner @sandyjamesplanner.bluesky Ravi Kahlon I agree. The best way to house lower income people is to build housing specifically designed and priced for low income people. Not the oftentimes tiny, awful units being proposed along Broadway and in other Inclusionary Zoning projects.
