Garden Tigers have been top of my list to see and they're now a daily sight in the moth trap, especially great to see when they're as fresh as this individual

A minimum of 119 Common Sandpiper were along the River Stour over the high tide this afternoon! Honestly quite therapeutic counting them from the River Runner boat watching them zip alongside. 102 Common Seals were waiting for us at the end of the trip at Pegwell Bay

Crossbills are not a typical seasonal migrant but are an irruptive species that move in response to the availability of food. This summer has seen a notable arrival of Crossbills into Britain and this was clearly reflected in the BirdTrack reporting rate in June and July

It's never a bad day doing New Downs and today was no different as there was an uptick in passage waders - Another Wood Sandpiper, 3 Little Ringed Plovers, 6 Whimbrel and 10 Greenshank along the various floods

Another varied day, this time over on RSPB Worth Marshes. Hit 69 species on census, tried as hard as I could for 70 but alas, I missed it. On the deck views of Turtle Dove, a Ruff, Garganey, Cattle and Great Egrets, Crossbills and a singing Yellowhammer were the highlights

The second half of August will see the peak period for autumn migration of Tree Pipit. Generally detected when calling in flight, they can occur across a range of habitats on migration

Helping out with a family Bug-hunting Event and saying it was a success would be such an understatement - Helped someone catch a damselfly only to realise it was an ANT-LION and a large caterpillar caught half an hour later turned out to be a DEATH'S-HEAD HAWK-MOTH!!

I knew Ant-lion was on the radar here but wasn't expecting my first to be in the middle of a rather fitting minibeasts guided walk! It was ideal really, doesn't get more hands-on than that for how good it is here 💪

Last weekend was one of the worst for seal disturbance we've seen at Pegwell Bay in a while. 💔 This is why Operation Seabird exists: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… To report a seal disturbance, please do so here: kwtg.uk/saveourseals 📷©️ Peter Cairns/2020VISION

Please note that maintenance work will begin on Restharrow Scrape on Monday 18th August. Expect disturbance to the site every Monday and Thursday morning for a few weeks.

The weather has been playing havoc with our moth trap, at times feeling quite hard-going. We've had a few good records here and there but not quite hitting the migrants seen in other parts of the county. Today was a bit different - a lovely crisp Spurge Hawk-moth!
