Excellent question. The only thing I’ve seen about CLR is the derision at Illumina’s attempt at calling it “not synthetic long reads”

I’m not sure which penny you think dropped or why you’ve quoted me in a way that I can’t directly reply to 🙄. Excluding instruments is weird and nonsensical. PacBio could drop instrument to $0 and charge more for reagents , but nothing would really change.

A dark hiring pattern at startups Giving employees equity but leaving out critical information that helps them value what it's actually worth I frequently see offers that don't share percentage ownership or total number of shares outstanding It is your right to ask!

PacBio has officially commercially released Onso, their new short read, high accuracy DNA sequencer. How much of a premium will people be willing to pay for Q40 (and some Q50) reads? #DNA #sequencing pacb.com/press_releases…

It’s lively with some really great discussions (but I don’t like the higher level of anonymity that seems to exist on Discord).

Element is continuing to make nice progress. This means they’ve sold ~50 boxes the last Q and probably have made ~~ $30M in revenue in the past 12 months (LOTS of assumptions in that estimate, don’t @ me 🤣) I think this hurts Singular Genomics more than Illumina

I'm on Xitter less and less these days. I'm currently using a mix of Mastodon and Bluesky for genomics/science stuff (and Threads for entertainment stuff). I have one Bluesky invitation code for anyone who is interested in migrating over.

After another year of fresh competition in the DNA sequencing space, there’s a clear loser and clear winner. Surprise twist: it’s the same company! sandiegomics.com/2023-sequencin… #genomics #sequencing
