Typically I bird my local patch all weekend, working today / this evening until 9pm and pec sand is found mid morning. Just managed to get there for last few minutes of daylight for a patch tick

Birded my Lochwinnoch patch before work. Redshank with 4 chicks the highlight. Quick twitch for Avocet at Baron's Haugh a few minutes from were I work (only the 4th Clyde record)

Managed to catch up with the 2 Avocets (1st record for Renfrewshire and only 4th for Clyde) on my Lochwinnoch patch with a quick lunchtime twitch. Made it with 12 minutes to spare before they flew off hight to the north.

Patch year tick with a Common Tern over Barr Loch at 7:08. Single black-tailed godwit, common sand and 3 redshank (1 chick) and 2 mandarin on my Lochwinnoch patch this morning

Not everyday you see a Little Ringed Plover chick sat on a discarded car wheel-hub! I’ve been monitoring this pair and this one nearly fledged so fingers crossed

First twitch by kayak today. Was kayaking on Castle Semple when marsh harrier was reported over scrape at Lochwinnoch luckily for me the bird flew north and got it on my patch year list and my kayak list

Patch year tick 123 with 2 ruff scrape at Lochwinnoch first thing this morning. Only 2 short of my target of 125 and 1 more than last year

Great days birding at Welney. Highlight includes 7 cranes, 50+ ruff, colour ringed wood sandpaper (from Norway) and nice selection of birds common birds. Willow emerald damselfly and tansy beetle were both new for me.

Good days birding in Suffolk - Ticked the Zitting Cisticola at warbleswick with reasonable flight views and vocal. The juv black stork at Holleley showed much better and was a year tick, good nicely of commoner birds along the way.

Couple of days visiting my folks in East Yorkshire and managed to get a bit of birding in today. Caught up with juv Red-necked grebe at Hornsea and had my worst ever views of Night Heron at North Cave.
