I have respect for the CEA and some sympathy for his predicament-required by by an insecure and incompetent administration to produce silly white papers blaming previous governments for all sorts of things.
But dissimulation about the present should be made of sterner stuff!

'Empirical' is one of the most misused words in economics.

Many economists seem to think that evidence needs to be analysed through statistical procedures to count as 'empirical evidence'. That's plainly wrong, even a mathematician will will tell you that.
