every small, local biz should (at minimum) have the following: - a good website - lots of google reviews - content posted every day ^this is what trust + social proof looks like. only way to survive without it is an incredible product (think: 100 year old cash-only bakery)

the more i think of it, the more i gravitate towards spending my time working with + for small businesses. sure, it means smaller rev. + more work - but, what's better than seeing good businesses / families in your community make more money?

we need to bring back punch cards i want my wallet bursting at the seams because i'm staying strapped with all my favorite businesses

the Etsy-fication + return of bar/restaurant matchbooks signal to me that punch cards will be returning in < 1 year

I suspect this is what homeschooling groups will turn into - however, teachers will need to market themselves accordingly in terms of values, ideology and curriculum. Interviewing to become a micro-school teacher will be harder than interviewing to become a public teacher

if I had $500 to grow my coffee shop, here’s what I’d do: $150 → loyalty stamp cards: like the ones in your junk drawer from 90s and early 2000s. my local deli has these and every time i see the card, i plan my next trip $100 → put an iphone in the hands of your most online

my favorite deli in the small-town I live in has no way to contact me. no website, email list, IG, nothing. if they were actively doing the bare minimum marketing to me, I'd be there 2-3 times per week i have a moral obligation to fix this

we have lost the magic of loyalty / reward programs at small businesses. they got so 'convenient' (auto-linked to credit cards, invisible points) that they're completely forgettable and I have no clue what the points are valued at. the act of getting a physical card stamped /

signed up for my local pizza shop's email list via their website. they have 5 locations in our area. didn't receive a welcome / confirmation email of any kind. the bar is so low for small biz to stand out - i must solve this
