A minority operates in majority culture by daily navigating the majority world narratives and heroes in order to matter. On occasion (maybe at lunch) the majority will inquire about the minority's narratives and heroes in order to relate but mostly to correct a stereotype.

Had a great discussion the other day with a nurse case manager surrounding sickle cell patients.. We were talking about why the term "sickler" is a stigmatizing and derogatory phrase to use for sickle cell patients. I also addressed with her the false notion

As a seminary professor and as a pastor, this is such limited thinking. Having women in demanding courses/programs has been good for all involved. I'm esp pleased to see women excelling in our demanding OT PhD program. They bring needed perspective & insights to our field.

Saw our son off as he is headed to a youth retreat. Heart felt heavy watching the kids boarding buses and parents seeing their children off. Such a swirl of emotions. At times like this, I am thankful that the Spirit intercedes for us. I don't have the words. 💔🙏🏼

Reality is proving difficult for Trmp and his team. War wasn't ended in 24 hrs. No peace in the Middle East. Catastrophic climate events keep happening. Infectious outbreaks worsen. Tariffs aren't fixing the economy. Immigration enforcement isn't about criminals.

Saying some piece of art is political is lazy critique. It's not the politics they mind. It's usually code for "I don't like the politics in this piece of art." When they agree with the politics - crickets.
