Should We Stop Using Lexical Diversity Measures in Children's Language Sample Analysis? This #AJSLP study, the largest & best controlled to date, reaffirms that type–token ratio should not be used in clinical decision making w/ children. on.asha.org/3XfmJfI SIGPerspectives

One of my first jobs when I start work is to deliver an SLT career talk to Y10s (that's IF I pass the course as I've messed up at the last hurdle 🥺) But if I do, I'm going to love doing it! Just our car boots are reason enough to train 🤩. Can also wear my SLT Beckett hoodie 😀

This thread by parent Claire Hoyle needs to be read by the widest possible audience. It highlights misconceptions of Speech and Language Therapy powerfully

Signs I know my brain has changed... I told my husband I was looking for a /l/ shaped sofa for the back garden instead of 'el'. The look I got 😂

I start my SLTA job full-time on Monday having been on the Bank with Humber Trust. To start, I'm holding more clinics and intervention sessions whilst waiting for HCPC reg. Then in autumn when I'm a Band 5, I'll be doing some days in a special school 🙂. How has 3 years gone?!

I've received a First Class BSc in SLT In 2021, I got a 2:1 BA in French and English Lang I grew up in poverty, cast aside at school I've worked for 10yrs changing that at the OU, local college & LBU Change the environment, not the plant. With support, anyone can flourish 🤩

Second week of working full time and this happens 😥 It's come out of nowhere too. I felt fine yesterday then suddenly started burning up and getting a blocked nose in the night.

Really enjoyed graduation today. It's surreal now I've finished. Thanks to all my clients, educators and lecturers, it's been a privilege. And thanks to my nephew Arthur, whose taught me more than he'll ever know in my degree 💙

First & second degree. The OU scaffolded me to believing I could be an SLT 🤩 SLT was tough. At work today, I was spoken to about NQP Transition Shock. I think I had that when I started at brick uni having left my job & never quite recovered 😅 Still did it. Thank you OU & LBU

Had a great day yesterday at my Trust's AHP Preceptorship Teaching Day. Learnt about becoming a Research Champion, applying trauma informed care and aligning my practice to the AHP Strategy. Also had a dysphagia refresher & met some lovely fellow AHPs & colleagues 😀

Somebody please tell me that when they started their jobs full-time, they made niggly errors because exec function's in overload and you're learning? Always happens when I start jobs. New systems, processes, ⬆️ demand. Not great for the perfectionist and worrier in me 😅

I left school with 3s and 2s in today's marks. I had bigger worries than #gcses2024 in childhood & school wrote me off. 20 years later, I have 2 degrees and my dream career 🤩 If you didn't get the marks you wanted, don't worry, there's plenty time & other routes x

2 pupils at my nephew's special school have dedicated their summer holiday training as Experts of Expedience for the Oliver McGowan campaign. Very proud of them 👏 #Oliverscampaign

In my fronting/backing minimal pairs pack, I have the /tr/ and /kr/ cluster 'train' and 'crane'. But isn't the /t/ in this case realised as an affricate? Therefore I won't be targeting the alveolar/t/? Same with /dr/ v /gr/? I've never used them, I'm just curious!
