We love how Lucy created this mindmap to plan out her creative writing. We always advise pupils to plan their writing first as the end result will be so much more considered and polished.

Adam's (Y8) poem has got us craving the summer...'Going on bike rides on a hot summer day with my family up the side of the nearby canal, Eating ice cream on a hot day outside for dessert, Feeling and hearing the satisfying pop of bubble wrap, Re-watching my favourite tv show.'

Imogen in Y7 is also craving the summer: 'Icy fresh water on a warm day, the scent of sun cream, the sound of polystyrene crunching, watching every single marvel film and drinking a fresh summer fruits smoothie.' Sounds perfect right?

Susannah Y11: 'Streams of rainwater; suffocating the prisoner momentarily, In between breaths of dirt and dust, Coming out of the train tunnel composed of skin, A peaceful way to parade pleasure, With a smile twice the size of a pebble. And it is the same grin that crops up.'

It's all about the simple pleasures: 'Expressing myself through song, When I’m hungry and I feel the delicious saltiness ooze around my mouth of melted cheese. Picking up a book and getting completely lost in the story to the point where I feel as if I’m the character.'

Another excert: 'Don’t you love it when you’re sat at the window reading, rain hits down outside in the dark abyss with faint lights of civilisation - close yet so far. Don’t you love it when you get out the shower, its hot your skin is red but now your skin shivering suitably.'
