Despite promises by Saudi authorities to reduce the use of the death penalty and reserve it for only the most serious crimes, executions in the country have surged in 2025.

We are alarmed by increased executions for hashish, the recent executions of child defendants Jalal al-Labbad and Abdullah al-Derazi, and the June execution of Saudi journalist Turki al-Jasser. This ongoing crisis raises concern for the lives of detainees in #SaudiArabia
