I loved working on Together for Childhood. It's good to see formal evaluation confirming local knowledge: Design principles are important Change is slow & long term Use stories and numbers Each place really is unique Locally embedded evaluation is key bit.ly/4bIOeSt

This is great to see. 😊 😊 Reducing the number of babies, children and young people in poverty, and mitigating the impact of poverty will contribute to many other positive outcomes. gov.uk/government/new…

I still have some of the greatest hits from the last child poverty unit. Although the size of the problem is larger I suspect many of the solutions aren’t too different. Budget document comes complete with a personal note from Ed Balls’ and rainbow logo!

Great to see Bridget Phillipson recognise how important parent-child relationships & home environment were in her own story of overcoming disadvantage. I look forward to hearing more about what the Government will do to support families & which Ministerial brief that will sit in.

View from Blackfriars never gets old. Lovely to see so many friends at the Nesta event on SureStart this evening and to reflect on lessons learned from the past & challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in getting things right for babies, young children and parents.

You can find statistics like this on pretty much every element of local government spending. Spending on acute interventions have shot up and spending in early intervention/support/prevention has dropped. A vicious spiral.

A great piece of work from Save the Children UK and Children & Young People's Mental Health Coalition about how poverty impacts on families' mental health, and how the Government can take action to address these interconnected issues. #ADualCrisis cypmhc.org.uk/wp-content/upl…

Wholeheartedly agree 👇🏻 There is momentum & investment in SfL LAs that must not be wasted. There is scope to adjust the programme so LAs can use the money in line with national & local policies & priorities to get best vfm & outcomes for babies, but it must not be stopped.

Really struck by the findings from Kindred Squared about lack of access to health visitors. This is having a big impact on families before children start school. * 22% reported they'd never seen a health visitor * Big regional differences kindredsquared.org.uk/wp-content/upl…

Listen to the case for a broader approach to children’s policy in govt. Delighted that ⁦Ed Balls⁩ & George Osbourne answered my q about the merits of a Department for Children vs a Department for Education in their podcast (between 20:45-28:31) podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/pol…

Amazing job opportunity as Clinical director at OXPIP👇🏻 OXPIP has always been a leader in the parent-infant relationship field. And Karen is fab to work with - wise, knowledgeable, thoughtful and fun.

The drive for the childcare expansion pushes on despite the worries about sufficient staff. However, our new flashing red is highlighting the seeming poor quality of newly qualified staff. What do you think? Read my blog here: leyf.org.uk/news/is-the-qu…
