After a hurricane, It is often easier to send a text or a long-distance phone call than to reach family nearby when cell towers may be down or overloaded. Choose an out-of-state friend or relative for all family members to contact if separated during an emergency. #HurricanePrep

Know your community’s evacuation plan, possible evacuation routes and how to sign up for local alerts. Always follow the instructions from local officials. Evacuate if told to do so. #HurricanePrep

Happy #NationalDonutDay! In 1917, Salvation Army EDS responded to aid during World War I. Faced with war conditions, they fried donuts in their helmets. The women became known as "Donut Lassies" and are often credited with introducing the donut to the public when soldiers returned.

Emotional and Spiritual care, while always a mainstay of Salvation Army Disaster Response, is pivotal in response to the devastating 4th of July floods in Texas. For many who have lost loved ones, homes and belongings, the emotional toll and trauma is just beginning.

Recently, the GA Division conducted an Incident Command System tabletop exercise, bringing together participants from across the state. This collaborative training allowed attendees to refine their ICS competencies and simulate response strategies for a large-scale hurricane.
