Yesterday morning, one of the 2024 brood orange ringed 3FB, returned to pay his parents a visit! Not for very long, though! After landing on the tower, he was soon forced to leave. Last seen being pursued across the meadows by a protective and disgruntled falcon. 📷 Stuart Wilson

The 3rd chick hatched at around 2.30 am this morning, but the first confirmation by visual was at 7.30 am when the falcon left to retrieve 'breakfast' - the tiercel then tried to sneak a peek at them but was quickly evacuated by the falcon returning.

Chick 4 has hatched during the Stamford All Saints 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Sunday morning service. If you scroll back to around 10.51, the falcon leaves the scrape, and the chick can be seen breaking free. At 11am, the falcon moves away half of the egg shell, briefly revealing the newly hatched chick.

The chicks are around a week old now and growing fast. Our first peregrine watch since hatch day is today, 10am until around 2pm in Red Lion Square. Come and say hello if you are passing. The All Saints' pay as you feel community coffee bar will also be open between these times.

💥This Friday 10am - 2pm it won't just be peregrine watch in the square - it will be fledge watch! 💥 With all 4 juveniles being seen out on the ledge exercising their wings, throughout this week we can expect them to get stronger and more adventurous. Fledging coming soon!

All four of our youngsters have now fledged. 3SB was the last to be confirmed & was seen leaving airspace around the church yesterday. The three males all fledged around Wednesday & Thursday last week. None chose to do it while anyone was watching & so we dont know exactly when.
