this by Artnome is right on, we are in a moment of such change that few times in history has the world been more ripe for art to hold a mirror up to the world as it is and help us understand and process it. Really great art is made in times of great change.

there is sometimes I think a need for artist to think that art must be commentary. but sometimes good art is also just made by mirroring back to us our world w/o commentary. Reality in a new context can provide the viewer their own opportunity for reflection & meaning making.

the amount of bot engagement is frustrating on this site, between the mindless bots, and the ai infofi farming bots, dealing with them is like a full time job. who wants to constantly think if engagement is sincere or with some ulterior motive. its exhausting.

some folks in the digital art nft world still have this thought that we need the trad art world to accept NFTs. But look around, digital art nfts are where the excitement & interest lies, galleries are closing, Art Basel is bringing in Eli Scheinman, etc. the art world is changing.

this is why you can’t just look at β€œmuh, scarcity” and conclude something is a good value. Their will be some larger editions that will be much more valuable than certain lower editioned works. This is not formulaic, the basis is the quality of the work & its demand.

I can see a day when the best art is what will be ultimately important regardless of chain. It has been a long time coming for an art maxi like me but the future is bright for chain agnostic art lovers.

i feel bad about buying counter culture art sometimes because by me buying it i am definitionally making it appear less counter culture and cool

stepping outside of myself & thinking for a moment about what a new digital art collector would encounter if they decided to get started in digital art makes my head spin. It’s so incredibly impenetrable & esoteric. We need more easy ways to browse & get folks exposed in fun ways

I view the trait-maxxing schizocollage of the "avant gay" scene as not so cynical as it is honest. It lays bare for good and for bad what the internet and meme culture broadly has become and the chaos that those mash-ups represent. A collective id & memory in a blender.
