Congratulations!! ☺️ Bianca Dickson
Fun first two days in the amazing TURKANA BASIN INSTITUTE with our team from SGEAS Science at Melbourne. Super excited to be back again ☺️ #Turkana #TBITurkwel #tephrochronology
🌍AGN members in the wild!🌍 This Science at Melbourne team will be preciselydating volcanic eruptions using the AuScope supported Ar-Ar geochronology laboratory housed at University of Melbourne. These volcanic layers contain the fossil remains of our homin ancestors dating back ~4 million years! ☠️🌋
Massive thankyou to TURKANA BASIN INSTITUTE again for hosting our team. Always a pleasure! Can’t wait to start looking at what we collected ☺️
Great talks from Science at Melbourne PhD researchers Saini Samim and Bohao at today's University of Melbourne TrACEES symposium, covering analyses of volcanic glass and Pokémon-like giant clams! 🌋🐚 More info on TrACEES here: sites.research.unimelb.edu.au/tracees
Geoscience is… scouring ash beds in East Africa with Hayden Dalton, Ash Savelkouls, Saini Samim, Dave Phillips and Francis (TURKANA BASIN INSTITUTE) on the hunt for volcanic pumice. Find out more: bit.ly/3YxBPMr – Dr Hayden Dalton #NCRISimpact #ScienceWeek
Amazing start to #UnimelbOpenDay with our Science at Melbourne School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences displays. Plenty of excited visitors!
The recordings of Science at Melbourne's NationalScienceWeek Mid-Afternoon Masterclasses, hosted by Julia Cleghorn are now available (including mine)! They covered weather systems to volcanoes, AI, animal welfare, and food science 🌦️🌭🐶🌋🍎 Links and details here: 👉science.unimelb.edu.au/about/news/sci…
📢As part of my DK Frie Forsk.fond-funded project WARMEST, I'm hiring a biomarker-loving postdoc to join my group to examine terrestrial climate + env of the western Sahel during the Eocene. Applications are due Feb 15th - contact me with any questions! RT plz :) international.au.dk/about/profile/…
How cool is the 44th International Symposium on Archeometry (ISA) taking place at the beautiful ‘autumnal’ campus of Science at Melbourne. Also just celebrating the fact that I was finally able to take a selfie with my amazing supervisory team at a conference! 😊 #ISA2024Melb #SciMelb
Proud supervisor! Saini Samim gave a brilliant talk at the ARCAS 42nd ISA on her Science at Melbourne PhD research unravelling the complexity of volcanism in the Turkana Basin🌋 P.s. I also enjoyed presenting a poster on our work applying Ar-Ar geochronology to archaeological problems
The first of several of Dr. Bianca Dickson's papers in the pipeline, exploring the spatial distribution of fossil pollen within stalagmites cambridge.org/core/journals/…
