Wow, Cubs pull out a win in a game during which they were getting no-hit for seven innings. Jameson Taillon was dealing, Christopher Morel launched a clutch, two-run homer and the Cubs move to 18-11 with a 3-1 W. Remember that one when thinking of the blown saves or tough losses.

The Cubs offense was doing nothing for much of the night. Didn't get a hit until the eighth inning. A double by Tauchman in the 9th is followed an out later by a rocket homer by Christopher Morel. He was sitting on the 3-1 heater and launched it. Neris in to try and close it.

A Cubs fan in a Rizzo jersey stood up and screamed, 'He's not going to get a no-hitter is he?' trying to jinx it right as Dansby Swanson stepped into the box. Three pitches later, Swanson ends the no-no bid with a soft single to center.

The Cubs are getting no-hit, but Jameson Taillon has been pretty damn good through six innings himself. Just two hits allowed, both in the first inning. Gave up a solo homer to Nimmo to start the game and a single two batters later. Ton of weak contact, just 59 pitches thrown.

Yeah, not many teams would still have a great offense when their two best hitters go on the shelf. A rough stretch was bound to happen.

After being shut down for much of the evening in Boston last night against Tanner Houck, the Cubs are getting no-hit by Luis Severino through five innings in New York.
