How thick is a single layer of MoS2? Many seem to get this wrong, listing 6.5-7 A from AFM (where the tip picks up water & other surface things). The answer is 6.15 A, from XRD carried out by Linus Pauling as a PhD student 101 yrs ago. His lab notebook: paulingblog.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/the…

Our latest work on MoS2 nanoscrolls. It was nice working on these quasi one dimensional systems. Had a lot of fun working with Tamaghna Chowdhury ;) as well.

It was a great experience collaborating in this project. Thanks to all the collaborators, IISER Pune, IISER Pune Physics , Ministry of Education and DSTIndia for supporting the research through #PMRF research grant and National Supercomputing Mission respectively. journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/1…

Researchers from IISER Pune, @TIFRBombay, IISc Bangalore & The University of Manchester have discovered a method to brighten dark excitons in WS₂ monolayers using tensile strain! Read More: lnkd.in/d-yzkWMy Refer poster for details

This was a tough paper to publish, surprisingly. i really like it. not an easy measurment and demonstrates that fully coherent emitters are possible in #hBN pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac… ACS Photonics MetaOptics UTS Science
