Year in review- Evidently it was too much. Either they just told teachers to provide paper alternatives for the students without chromebooks, or they eventually gave the students a second chromebook free of charge, which generally got quickly ruined as well.

Year in review- Little Sage just finished up her freshman year. Such a huge difference from my freshman's experience. Even in our advanced classes, you are always going to have enough students who aren't interested in being advanced there, so it's not an advanced class.

Year in review- This kid got arrested and sent to Juvie before the end of the year. This was a common attitude from parents "I can't make them work, you make them work" I can't force them to work either. I can fail them. But that takes a year, We need more immediate action

At the gym, I've been using the locker that corresponds with my age, and every year, I move over one locker. I've been doing this for a few years now. However, the next locker in the series is busted and unusable and has been for some time now. Surely this means something

Year in review- The plan for next year is to make an extended homeroom and extra help period for the first half hour of the day. The idea being that since students are coming in a half hour late, now they will be on time. The students who are on time will all get shorter classes

Year in review- I helped some of the new teachers along with resources and support. When it came time to cut positions, they got to stay, I got the axe

Year in review- The staffing cut formula is based on enrollment. We predictably have 100's of EL students arrive late every year, and have to find a class for them. But they don't count for our enrollment numbers since they weren't here in the beginning.

Year in review- Both of my co taught classes this year were rough. Finally got to a working level with one of them, the other remained one of my most difficult classes ever the entire year.

SageOnTheStage (@sage_stage) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Year in review- Yeah, that's exactly what they wanted. Lessons should all be available online, except for the paper copies, except there's no paper. And if the activity is online, there should be some sort of paper alternative assignment. This is all non negotiable

Year in review- This is really where we are in education right now. Without some level of cooperation you can't do anything. Even just a few of these kids can ruin a whole classroom/school if you aren't able to address it immediately and decisively.

Two years ago I went to NEA Orlando. I thought it was a a waste of time and energy, so didn't go to Philly. My buddies who have been going to all of the NEA's decided not to go anymore after the bigger waste of time in Philly. So who can I count on for the scoop this year?

Year in review- I had a kid still enrolled in my class until April despite the fact that I only saw him about a dozen times all year. and never since December because Dave keeps marking him present by accident.

SageOnTheStage (@sage_stage) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Year in review- Well, this kid didn't end up passing anything, and his attendance really went downhill the last few months of the year. But he did become a lot more agreeable and friendly with me whenever I did see him

Year in review- AI became so prevalent during the year this trend reversed for some kids. They would manage to turn in immaculate assignments all at once and weeks late, but couldn't pass an in class tech free test. The rest either passed or failed both

Year in review- This is still a conversation. The word "owe" was a poor choice. And right now we are actually trying to downsize the staff. But I don't think we can fake happiness to get more people in the door when they are just going to find out for themselves.

Year in review- This worked! Never even had close to another issue with this student for the rest of the year and she ended up with solid A's and B's with me, good test scores, and no more drama.

Havent gotten any reports from the NEA RA this year. But if they start to address a difficult topic, just make a motion to skip it and do a 30 minute long tribute to the Philadelphia Eagles instead. #neara
