I didn't even dare ask for this much during my video about the bannings, but I'm absolutely thrilled with the choices. Very well done Magic: The Gathering!

Honestly, this is what I expected from the yearly ban list update once they announced we were going to three-year Standard. No changes last year made me worried, but this is exactly what I want from the yearly update.

Notable that Cutter would have been emergency banned if it wasn't for the yearly window. Gives us some idea of the level of dominance Wizards is looking for in an emergency ban.

I had Manifold Mouse as my Mouse to ban, but hitting Monstrous Rage and Heartfire Hero does the same thing and lets Wizards avoid banning a rare, which I think is generally wise, although it does hurt a bit on Arena thanks to the worse wildcard refund.

Dimir seems like the biggest immediate winner from the bannings, but with such a big shakeup who knows where things land in a few weeks.

Also a good call to have another yearly ban window in 9 months(ish) considering rotation is getting pushed back next year. Honestly, I don't think I've ever been so positive about a ban announcement, both with the cards being banned and the philosophy behind it.

Maybe saying Standard needed 4+ bannings wasn't so crazy after all. daniel
