It’s frustrating that eco-modernism has discursively occupied the concept of modernisation. A form of modernisation is necessary to the socialist project of maximising productivity in ecologically sound, democratically planned, ways & thereby reducing labour time to a minimum.1/6

It was great to finally have James Meadway on the show to dig into The Labour Party’s misguided embrace of AI along with what other countries’ reliance on US tech means for their economies. Check out his podcast Macrodose too!

Vale muito a pena pra compreender como os bilionários do Vale do Silício estão podando nossas alternativas em todas as áreas de política pública. Trabalho incrível de Paris Marx .

Off to the UK in a couple of weeks for our dossier launch. I'm proud of how this dossier came together, with authors from many countries, bridging talk of energy transition and ecosocial strategy in text and visual art.

This is a good point by Sabrina Fernandes - moved to bluesky “To believe that a fast Global North transition allows the Global South more time to do so in the future, after having its own turn with conventional fossil pathways of development, is to promote development & sovereignty with an expiry date…

The Paris target isn't a physical limit, it's political. Before COP21 small island nations campaigned for an upper limit of 1.5C. France lobbied for 2C. The US resisted any mention of a limit at all. 2C is the amount of death and dying imperialist states have deemed acceptable.

Who defines transition, and in whose interest? How can we move beyond extractivism without reinforcing colonial or technocratic structures? This isn’t just a launch. It’s an invitation to rethink climate politics from the South, rooted in justice and radical imagination.
