Today is the 50th anniversary of the Worsley Hotel Fire. Hamish ‘Harry’ Pettit lost his life in the line of duty on the 13th December 1974 when attending a fire. Family, Friends and colleagues paid tribute today where the Red plaque was erected in 2021. #WeRemember

Crews were faced by a large and rapidly spreading fire with over 30 people trapped in the building. Eventually 30 fire engines were requested to attend the scene and help bring the fire under control. Today, we remember the seven people who sadly lost their lives.

We’ve attended several incidents today where dogs have been trapped on frozen ponds & lakes. Please keep dogs on leads - if your dog ends up on ice, don't put yourself in danger by going to rescue them yourself. Call 999 and stay off the ice
