Fighting the Opioid Crisis: Recovering Together This morning, I was proud to stand with the Third Avenue BID, Bronx Economic Development Corporation, St. Ann’s Corner of Harm Reduction, Samaritan Daytop Village, and Bronx Community Board 1 to announce Recovering Together-

Our CEO, Timothy Majoor at the New York State Harm Reduction Association’s (NYSHRA) advocacy day up in Albany this past week. Calling for action on harm reduction funding as well as protections for Drug Checking initiatives, which are crucial in the fight to save lives.

Our Friday session, The Opioid Crisis in the Bronx, was hosted by Assemblymember Yudelka Tapia and featured the work of Friends of Echo Park to respond to community concerns with care, not criminalization.

At the panel, OnPoint NYC Field Services Manager Thomas Blazsek talked about OnPoint’s model of care.

SACHR was proud to host NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Kwame Mamdani and his team last week to discuss the overdose crisis, The Bronx, and approaches to public health that promote less punishment and more empowering access to life saving harm reduction services.

Our SORT (Syringe Outreach Response Team) working hard to keep our community safe by offering consistent: •Syringe litter cleanup •Education on safer disposal •Distribution of sharps containers •Linking people to care

On Monday, I joined St. Ann's Corner of Harm Reduction for their weekly syringe clean-up. Our cleaning route started at Poe Park, moved on to the Kingsbridge Underpass, then St. James Park, and finally Aqueduct Walk. 1/2

The weekly clean up by St. Ann's Corner of Harm Reduction is incredibly important to keep our public spaces as clean as possible from syringes & other drug paraphernalia. 1/3
