Jim Nill is back-to-back GM of the Year. Full benefit of doubt. 3 things I’m wondering: 1. Why buy out one year of Suter, then sign multiple similar level defensemen at multi-year deals with $3+ million AAV? 2. 2 x $1.5 million was too much for Wedgewood? 3. See No. 1.

if you were ever annoyed by the vague terms in which NHL teams provide injury updates (lower-body vs. upper-body), here’s why they do it.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers would be the first NBA Finals since the luxury tax was in effect where neither team was a taxpayer. At least one team was a taxpayer in every Finals where the luxury tax was in effect (2002 & 2005 did not have luxury taxes due to lack

Brian Schottenheimer said that Micah Parsons hasn't been at OTAs this week. Schottenheimer ran into Micah at the airport and said the star pass rusher was headed out for some travels. Schottenheimer reiterated that OTAs are voluntary.

in my decade-plus covering/being around the Cowboys, this whole Dak developmental phase thing regarding brian schottenheimer’s comments today is a top-3 dumbest non-story being manufactured into something it’s not. Come on, September. Rescue us from this idiocy

For anyone wondering, it looks like #Cowboys Micah Parsons is in Spain. (Again, all voluntary workouts, Micah was there at the start of OTAs, and he’s had success working in his routine since joining the NFL). Just context for note keeping. (📸: @ treylens on IG)

If you believe the Stars should make a head coaching change (I absolutely do not), you have to say who would be better than Pete DeBoer.

Saad Yousuf (@saadyousuf126) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Paul Maurice is actually a great example. When he was in Winnipeg/left Winnipeg, many said he was not built to win a championship. We now see how that’s played out.

Mark Lazerus (@marklazerus) 's Twitter Profile Photo

DeBoer: "I didn't blame it all on Jake, but the reality is if you go back to last year's playoffs, he's lost six of seven games to Edmonton. And we give up two goals on two shots in an elimination game. ... That's a pretty big sample size."

Mark Lazerus (@marklazerus) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Pete DeBoer panicked, and tried to light a fire under the Stars by pulling Jake Oettinger, his best player, after just seven minutes. Instead, he burned the season to the ground. My column from Dallas: nytimes.com/athletic/63923…

multiple things can be true. i don't believe stars need to make a coaching change, and i do believe pete deboer is capable of winning a Stanley Cup. I also believe the approach with Jake Oettinger, in-game and postgame, was botched.

bummer for the dallas sports scene that this loss ends Laz's cameo writing about the Stars. one of the best writers in sports journalism, both with his writing and his story topics. everybody should be following his work regularly!

19 years ago today, Tim Thomas called Dirk Nowitzki the p-word & blew kisses to him in Game 5 of the WCF. Dirk made 10 of his next 14 shots & finished the game with 50 PTS & 12 REB on 54/83/94 shooting in a win.
