25 April 1923 | A Czech Jewish woman, Ruth Rychnovská, was born in Prague.

Deported to #Auschwitz on 6 October 1944.
She did not survive.

24 April 1937 | A Czech Jewish girl, Eva Neuová, was born in Prague.

In #Theresienstadt Ghetto from 17 December 1941.
On 18 December 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz with her parents: Emil and Markéta. None of them survived.

25 April 1928 | A Czech Jewish boy, Petr Haim, was born in Prague.

He was deported from the #Theresienstadt ghetto to #Auschwitz on 6 September 1943. He did not survive.

25 April 1911 | A Dutch Jewish woman Elisabeth Carolina de Vries-Gersons was born in Tiel.

In February 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz together with her daughter Rosa Henriette. They were murdered in a gas chamber after selection.

'Arbeit macht frei' - work makes one free, was a cynical welcome at the Auschwitz I camp. SS guards often told prisoners of #Auschwitz that the only way out from the camp was through the chimney of the crematorium.

Władysław Bartoszewski (b. 1922) was Auschwitz prisoner number 4427. He was transported to the camp as a teenager in the second Warsaw transport in September 1940. He was released in April 1941, probably thanks to the efforts
