Are backed tools specific of modern behaviour? How, when and how many times were these tools invented? What's their connection with ergonomics and hafting? Check our new paper in Evolutionary Anthropology Journal! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Our latest U.S. National Science Foundation-funded study challenges long-standing assumptions about stone tool backing. Controlled tests show no significant difference in adhesion between backed and non-backed lithic edges. Dive into the details: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ar… 🪨🔍

I understand that the great Palaeolithic archaeologist Paola Villa has passed. She made major contributions to human evolutionary studies throughout her career with many great insights and impactful publications. A truly inspiring researcher. colorado.edu/cumuseum/dr-pa…

Happy to share my latest work with archaeologist Manuel Will on lithic flake variability at the Middle Stone Age site of Sibhudu, South Africa. As a bioanthropologist, this was my first non-bone paper, and I loved the interdisciplinary journey! nature.com/articles/s4159…
