New acquisition - the M67 water boiler, known as a Puffing Billy, entered service in the 1960s.
It was designed to be entirely safe to use…if operating instructions were followed 😉 However, many recruits took a shortcut to lighting the stove and their eyebrows paid the price!

Just got this No1 burner out on display this morning.

The No1 burner blasted a petrol flame through a trench, which chefs then cooked their pots on 🔥 simple and effective! However, also quite dangerous, hence its eventual removal from service …much to the chefs’ lament.

WASP member Elizabeth L. Gardner at the controls of a B-26 Marauder. WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots) were deployed between Aug 1943 - Dec 1944 to mainly free up men for combat service.

38 of these ladies lost their lives either testing aircraft or in active missions.
