Looking through by work emails - at least 1/2 are now from spam journals and conferences. Unbelievable how pervasive these things are.

Never too old to learn - I spent my 30s & 40s convincing myself I couldn’t learn programming of any sort - I turned 50 today and I am 4 months deep into learning R and I am loving it! #fab50 #rstats #nevertooold

Great keynote from Derek Byerlee on the challenges (hopefully surmountable) facing global agriculture. A few digs at QLD land clearing. #TropAg2017

Think this was my favourite slide of the day - 160m wide phenotyping beast in the US dessert. From Todd Mockler I think in the Genes, phenes and flying machines symposium. #TropAg2017

SCRAM, our small RNA read aligner and visualization suite, is out as an advance article in Bioinformatics. We developed the pipeline primarily for analysing plant and viral siRNAs, though it's pretty versatile! academic.oup.com/bioinformatics… #QAAFI #mitterlab #RNAi

The #NBN has been delayed around UQ until mid-2020. Stuck with ADSL until then. Makes working at home very difficult. All the existing HFC infrastructure that taxpayers bought from Telstra is to be ditched in place of fibre to the curb too. Great planning there. #auspol
