… I noticed the issue when working on diacritics for Service Gothic. It took longer than I’d like to admit to figure out why my grave looked lighter than my acute, even though they’re just mirrored. Turns out mirroring *without correcting the contour direction* was the culprit.

The latest After Effects Beta features an impressive array of animation presets designed by the talented Evan Abrams. These include dynamic lines, charts and graphs, text boxes, numeric counters, textures, and transitions, all of which are both cool and useful.

Fun quick AE trick: use the Time Displace effect to turn a simple text move into something more interesting. Here Time Displace is linked to a Gradient Ramp, with added Tint + CC Composite of the original on top, all time-displaced a second time with different settings.
