Harsh headline but very helpful article. In hard times, give your kids some control where you can and help them have the words to express what they're feeling. Even as an adult while seeing faces is great sometimes, sometimes a phone call or text is better to connect.

Black Lives Matter. I promise to continue to do my part: not just to love my colleagues & students of color, but to listen & elevate Black voices, to advocate for systemic change, & to have the hard, uncomfortable conversations with White family and colleagues.

June 19, 1865-an important milestone in our history. Juneteenth symbolizes freedom and progress, though it certainly also reminds us of the work left to do. google.com/amp/s/amp.theg…

So proud of VBCPS and the many who have worked hard to create and pass this equity policy. It's neither the start nor the end of our long journey to ensure all our students, staff, and community thrive, but an important step in the right direction!

There's a lot happening in the world right now: Afghanistan, New Orleans, Haiti, new COVID surges, back to school. Remember to check on your friends & family. Reach out if you're doing ok. Reach out if you're not doing ok.

We don’t find ourselves. We build ourselves. With every experience, setback, and bounce back, we learn and we build ourselves. And that’s an energizing way to live in our own stories. Let’s keep doing the work. Let’s keep building.
