Ah, isn’t it great that no other states (and certainly no nuclear, massively powerful states!) have random influential dudes like, say, Elon Musk in places of power.

That's it- they were the invader in Iraq so they identify with the invader here. Their drone pilots flew from boxes in Nevada so they assume FPVs work the same way.

They are already systematically executing Ukrainian POWs, recording it on video and bragging to the world. Whether or not there are drone videos of Russian soldiers dying

A lot of hand-wringing about this video. I am not going to say “what about the human safari in Kherson”. Instead, I will say this: The Russian soldier could have refused to serve, he could have deserted, he could have surrendered. Instead, he signed a contract and went to

👣ℙ𝕖𝕕𝕣𝕠'𝕤 𝕄𝕦𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕔𝕙𝕖🇺🇲 I'm so sick of you guys commenting on it so nonchalantly as if you're picking a basketball team to cheer on. Ukraine got invaded, whole cities razed to the ground, hundreds of thousands of civilians died, and you're lamenting because of a damn invader who wanted to get some money

Great to meet you. I’m an actual fucking Ukrainian living in Ukraine. I used to write articles about movies — both in Ukrainian and Russian — before Russia invaded my homeland, drove multiple of my friends out of their homes and has been bombing the city I live in for 3 years.

the outcry over droned russian soldiers discourse is not a fluke, it’s a cyclical phenomenon. now that the pendulum has swung a bit and some restrictions on ukraine’s weapons usage might be lifted, the propaganda effort humanizes the invading russian troops to an absurd degree

Yeah, because the alternative to war is abandoning our people to suffer torture and persecution under occupation, Doug. Is that really that hard to wrap your smooth little brain around?

The main reason most people feel sad for the invader who came to another country to kill its inhabitants but got killed instead is that they can imagine themselves being part of the invading army much easier than being invaded

Hope your smugness helps you sleep at night while you are promoting a Clean Wehrmacht in real time. Russian soldiers willingly have gone to Ukraine to kill. Not even conscripted.

Attended the biggest book festival of the year today, went on a walk that was only partially interrupted by air raid sirens, have enough leftover pizza to eat anxiously if there’s a nighttime drone and/or missile attack. Fun!

You wake up from a weird and very loud whoosh somewhere outside, followed by a few seconds of sirens blaring and then an earth-rattling explosion. It’s just 01:47 AM in Kyiv and Russians are doing their thing.
