All of the changes to our streets we've seen during the pandemic are just returning many of our city streets back to what they were originally intended for... Space for people, space for community & space for commerce. 📍Mulberry St., NYC 🗓️1901-2018-2020 📷anamar

In Paris the temporary café terraces set up in city streets during the pandemic could be here to stay! Paris is creating a legal route for the 9.8K cafes, bars & restaurants that set up short-term terraces to return every summer, or even become permanent. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

I’ve done it - I’ve found the most insane outdoor dining setup. It’s at Bison and Bourbon, a kosher steakhouse in Gowanus. Two trailer-mounted flameless diesel heaters running flex ducts - suspended with cables for pedestrian clearance - into an enormous uninsulated patio. Wow.

7. Dealing with trauma is a privilege Life has always been hard. But when you're busy surviving, you don't have time to worry about that. Even if it's holding you back. A lot of what I witnessed was likely people just trying to survive the best way they knew how to.

Sort of stunned by how much this tweet has taken off. I'm getting replies with calls to pedestrianize main strips in places like Ireland, Trinidad & Tobago, and Germany. If New York leads like this, people take notice.

Must watch: A Montana Republican talks far better than most 'housing is a human right' NIMBYs about how housing is an essential human need and the profound inequality of how the US currently allocates housing.

It’s counterintuitive unless you are a bike rider or physicist (I’m both) If we come to a full stop, it takes us longer to clear the intersection, increasing our risk of being run over from the side. Also extremely exhausting
