Too many of you think of parenting as something that crowds out your priorities instead of its own priority and it shows. Being a good parent is arguably the best investment you can make towards future society. It's time to start treating it as such.

“The rote incantations of a state religion.” This is an incredible exposé of academic DEI. It confirms so many things critics of DEI have been saying for years. Better late than never, NYT! Some highlights: 🧵

Don't let anyone convince you that you have to hustle all the time. There's nothing wrong with rest, recovery and reflection. In fact, all three are critical for truth growth and progress.

Want your kids to be mentally strong? Let them experience failure. But, also ensure that they know that failing is okay and that it doesn't define them, but that how they react to it does. You can even share with them a time in which you failed and how you responded.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating. The #1 most important decision most of you will make in your life is who to marry. If you get this right, it's a positive force multiplier across so many aspects of life.

Hustle culture is crazy these days It’s okay to have a beer with your dad or a glass of wine with friends It’s okay to prioritize 8 hours of sleep It’s okay to take a break from work or social media on Sunday If you want to win the long game, approach everything in moderation

It seems that most people prefer working with those they like, even if they're less competent. I guess I'm in the minority—I’d rather work with highly competent people, even if we don't have much in common. What about you?

There's a lot of people in my DMs that can evidently help me scale my coaching side hustle. I don't doubt this is true, but: 1.) My wife and I have enough. 2.) My #1 priority is spending *any* excess time I have with my kids. 3.) I *loathe* thinking about having sales calls. 4.)

Go vote - this one matters. Focus on policies, not people. Vote for freedom, entrepreneurship, meritocracy. Vote against serfdom, censorship, bureaucracy. Go vote.

If you're a Type A over achiever, resist the urge to optimize every corner of your life. Constantly being on that treadmill can turn life into a chore. Instead, identify the handful of things that matter most, focus on optimizing those, and also let loose and enjoy life now.

Most people are too busy with their own lives (jobs, kids, habits, etc.) to spend more than a fleeting moment thinking about you. Nobody is analyzing your every move. Now that you've internalized this, what are you waiting for? People remember your big wins, not your losses.

“Ryan, what the hell, man? What are you training for?” Life. I’m training for life. To keep up with my kids. To have unlimited energy and vitality. To be harder to kill.

One of the most bad ass things you can do for someone else is to believe in them before they believe in themselves. So many of us just need to know we have someone in our corner that knows we can do IT—whatever “IT” is for each of us.

Things You Should Give Up: > Complaining > Toxic friends > Making excuses > The desire to always be "right" > Being indecisive about everything > Letting your past dictate your future > Procrastinating on things that are important > Caring about what (most) other people think

Things parents with grown kids regret: > Not making them do basic chores > Missing their extracurriculars for work > Not taking enough adventures and "field trips" > Buying them things because of external pressure > Being so focused on the kids, they neglected their spouse

You must prioritize time for: rest, play and leisure. I don't care who you are, if you only focus on work and productivity, you will eventually burn out and lose your sense of joy. I'm a fan of hustling and the occasional monk mode, but productivity can't always trump wellness.

Toughest guys I knew rarely, if ever, started anything. Mostly, they just chilled calmly in a corner watching things escalate. Then you’d see the, “Ah, here we go again,” look before they calmly insert themselves and finish what whomever else started.

Sitting next to my grandfather in his living room while periodically going upstairs to check on my wife who couldn’t get the baby to sleep. 😬 We’d stay at his house with the our babies when we visited my hometown, so we didn’t wake up the whole house.
